The fall semester is truly underway. I hope you've gotten off to a great start and that you had time this summer to reflect and recharge. We have many opportunities coming up this semester. Here are the top ones I'd like to let you know about:

Academic Award Nominations Sought
The University Awards committee is seeking nominations for two of our most prestigious academic awards: Honorary Degree and the Order of Pacific. Nominations are due November 15 and December 1, respectively. Please follow the links above for the nomination forms and processes.

Call for SEED Proposals Postponed until Spring 2017
The Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) has postponed the call for SEED proposals as it prepares for a refresh of Pacific's Strategic Plan, Pacific 2020. Learn more here.

Faculty Search Committee Trainings
Chris Goff, Assistant Provost for Diversity, is conducting several trainings to address best practices and mitigating unconscious bias in the faculty hiring process. Attendance at any one of the sessions is required for members of faculty search committees. Dates and registration here.

Return of the 14-Day Writing Challenge!
Making time for research and creative work is challenging at any stage of an academic career, and can be particularly challenging after tenure, when service and other demands seem to multiply. Start off the fall semester right by "paying yourself first" - join us for the return of Pacific's 14-Day Writing Challenge, starting Monday, September 26. Learn more here.

National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD) Workshop
On Thursday, September 29 Pacific will host a workshop entitled "Writing your next chapter - How to find your Mojo and more forward at Mid-Career" and facilitated by Rosemarie Robert, NCFDD coach. This three-hour workshop begins at noon and is open to all faculty. It includes a working lunch. Please RSVP by Monday, September 26 to Erika Greet at 209.946.2551 or egreet@pacific.edu so that we can plan for lunch accordingly.
