Making time for research and creative work is challenging at any stage of an academic career, and can be particularly challenging after tenure, when service and other demands seem to multiply. Start off the fall semester right by "paying yourself first" - join us for the return of Pacific's 14-Day Writing Challenge, starting today - Monday, September 26! Learn more here.

National Center for Faculty Development and Diversity (NCFDD) Workshop
On Thursday, September 29 Pacific will host a workshop entitled "Writing your next chapter - How to find your Mojo and more forward at Mid-Career" and facilitated by Rosemarie Robert, NCFDD coach. This three-hour workshop begins at noon and is open to all faculty. It includes a working lunch. Please RSVP by today - Monday, September 26 - to Erika Greet at 209.946.2551 or egreet@pacific.edu so that we can plan for lunch accordingly.  

It's Time for NFL! (New Faculty Lunches)
October 6, 12-1pm in the DUC, Room 211; the topic is, "Internal funding opportunities to support research, travel, pedagogy and undergraduate research" A light lunch will be served. All of the 12pm meetings will be available by video conference from the San Francisco and Sacramento campuses.

Return of Chair Development Lunches
October 20, 12-1pm in the Library Community Room; the topic is, "Update on Blackboard Analytics and other data sources" A light lunch will be served. All of the 12pm meetings will be available by video conference from the San Francisco and Sacramento campuses.

Faculty Film Night
November 9
 at Vereschagin Alumni House - the film is Ivory Tower - "A documentary that questions the cost - and value - of higher education in the US." Look for more information coming soon.

Faculty Search Committee Trainings - Next Session is October 3
Chris Goff, Assistant Provost for Diversity, is conducting several trainings to address best practices and mitigating unconscious bias in the faculty hiring process. Attendance at any one of the sessions is required for members of faculty search committees. Register here.

Call for Proposals: TEC Grants The Technology in Education Committee (TEC) has issued a Call for Proposals for Fall 2016 and Spring 2017. The purpose of TEC grants is to enhance the sustainable use of innovative instructional technology to support student learning. Interdisciplinary projects are encouraged. Fall 2016 Grants - Deadline: Friday, November 4, 2016
- Conference Proposals (under $2,500)
- Small Projects (under $5,000)
- Medium Projects ($5,000-$20,000)
- Large Projects (over $20,000)

Spring 2017 Grants - Deadline: Friday, April 7, 2017
- Small grant funding only: awards up to $2,500 per proposal for innovative technology instruction or technology conferences

Academic Award Nominations Sought
The University Awards committee is seeking nominations for two of our most prestigious academic awards: Honorary Degree and the Order of Pacific. Nominations are due November 15 and December 1, respectively. Please follow the links above for the nomination forms and processes.

Reminder: Call for SEED Proposals Postponed until Spring 2017
The Strategic Planning Committee (SPC) has postponed the call for SEED proposals as it prepares for a refresh of Pacific's Strategic Plan, Pacific 2020. Learn more here.
