Patricia GrayPatricia Gray hired as garden program director
Patricia Gray is the new garden program director in Sustainability Initiatives in the Business and Finance Division. She also serves as a faculty member in the College of the Pacific Environmental Studies Program.

As garden program director, Gray will be responsible for developing the programming, curriculum and community-related events for the Ted and Chris Robb Garden and the Bon Appetit Management Company Native Garden on the Stockton Campus, and the Sacramento Community Garden on the Sacramento Campus. She also oversees the physical upkeep of the gardens. Gray plans to introduce a variety of activities such as composting workshops and seed swaps, and to provide networking opportunities for individuals growing crops in the community plots. 
Students interested in the garden will be able to work, volunteer or earn research and internship credits through the program. Gray will also offer produce from the Robb Garden during farmers' market days in the DeRosa University Center, Wednesdays from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. through Nov. 23.

Gray comes to Pacific from Maynooth University of Ireland, where she was a full-time tenured lecturer in the Department of Social Anthropology. Previously was a tenured associate professor at the University of Alaska Fairbanks, which followed a three-year post-doc at the Max Planck Institute for Social Anthropology in Halle, Germany. She received her PhD in anthropology from the University of Wisconsin Madison, along with a graduate certificate in Russian, East European and Central Asia studies. She has an master's in anthropology from Southern Illinois University Carbondale, and a bachelor's in communication (journalism) from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.  Read more>>

Academic Division

Cris ClayCris Clay, executive director of the Community Reentry Program (CRP) in the College of the Pacific, will be retiring Sept. 30 after 34 years of service in helping to improve the quality of life for the mentally disabled. Clay helped establish what is now the Martin Gipson Center, named for the former faculty member and CRP founder. The center provides a one-stop hub for behavioral-based treatment offered to mental health consumers that provides recreation, support, employment training and forensic services. It is the first such center in the state of California as a function of state legislation. Clay has written and maintained a continuous grant contract with San Joaquin County Mental Health for more than 30 years. Under his leadership, funding has grown from the program's humble beginnings in 1976 with a $32,000 budget to annual contract funding now exceeding $1.2 million. Clay also has been an important member of Pacific's Black History Month committee for more than 15 years, helping to make Pacific's annual commemoration of black history and heritage the major celebration it is today.

Kara Cunningham is a new administrative assistant I in the Office of the Provost. Denise Elfenbein is the new production coordinator in Design and Photo Services at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.

Risa Fujishige has transferred to the position of administrative assistant II in the Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences.

Jared Gaynor's role was reclassified as chief of staff for the provost in the Office of the Provost.

Steven Hamer is a new administrative and program services assistant in the Center for Professional and Continuing Education.

Amanda Hammond's position was reclassified as project support specialist in the Office of the Provost.

Carole Hill was promoted to the position of coordinator of faculty governance in the Faculty Leadership Office.

Paulo Huerto is a new sterilization and dispensing technician in Sterilization and Dispensing at Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.

Joanna Linkemyer is a new administrative assistant II in the Center for Professional and Continuing Education.

Macie Luallen is the new coordinator for program develop and management Center for Professional and Continuing Education.

Omar Mahasin and Jennifer Ojeda are new administrative assistants in Academic Affairs at the San Francisco Campus.

Leslie Verner-Morales is the new registration receptionist at the main clinic at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.

Elaine Wheeler is a new senior academic project manager in the Office of the Provost.

Mei Yan Xiang is a new dental assistant in the specialty clinics at the Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry.

President's Division

Nico Barredo has transferred from the School of Engineering and Computer Science to the Office of Enrollment Management, where he is now the marketing specialist and coordinator for Tiger Creative, a new group of student workers who will be supporting Enrollment Management and campus marketing and communications initiatives.

Evan Blair is a new assistant director of graduate admission and recruitment in Enrollment Management.

Julie LaLonde, executive assistant to the president, retired Sept. 9, after four years of tremendous service. Shim Lacy, formerly in Pacific Technology, is the new executive assistant to the president.

Emilia Briceno Lopez has transferred to graduate admission record lead in Enrollment Management.

Paul Rapp has transferred to the Office of Enrollment Management, where he is now the director of enrollment management marketing and academic communications. In this expanded role, he is responsible for coordinating the marketing of the university's educational programs to prospective students and other audiences and continues to provide specialized communications for the Office of the Provost, including publication of the Academic Division newsletter.

Business and Finance

Alex Bradeis has transferred to custodian group I in Support Services. Wayne Parker is a new painter group III in Support Services. Natalia Prokopchuk is a new human resources representative in the San Francisco Campus Human Resources Office.

Development

Aaron Morales is the director for athletics annual giving, where he will assist the Athletics Department in providing leadership for the strategic direction of Athletics' annual fundraising efforts while serving as the director of the Pacific Athletic Foundation (PAF). Morales brings a background in the sports and entertainment industry where he served as the director of corporate partnerships with the Stockton Ports baseball team for the past three years. Shannon Edminster is a new career advising and success specialist in the Career Resource Center.

Katherine Bloom, Laura Chang and Matthew Daube are new doctoral psychology interns in Counseling and Psychological Services.

Chad Fraga '14 is the new coordinator for the Pacific Ambassadors in New Student and Family Programs.

Patrick Harman is a new public safety officer in Public Safety.

External Relations

Cheryl Mack is the new administrative assistant in External Relations. She brings more than 20 years' experience as an administrative professional with for-profit and nonprofit organizations. She has an MBA and is a certified Notary Public.

Pacific Technology

James August's position has been reclassified as associate vice president for information security/chief information security officer (CISO).

Jack Brown's position has been reclassified as associate vice president for technical operations/chief operations officer (COO).

Scott Christensen's position has been reclassified as assistant vice president for technical planning.

Robert Henderson's position has been reclassified to assistant vice president for technical architecture/chief technology architect (CTA).

Peggy Kay's position has been reclassified to assistant vice president for technical customer experience.

Athletics

Philip Boozer is the new assistant director of athletic training.
