Office of Sponsored Programs Update

Office of the ProvostSep 26, 2016

External Funding Opportunities
The Office of Sponsored programs continues to improve the External Funding Opportunities webpage based on feedback from users.  The page will be updated regularly as opportunities relevant to Pacific become available, instead of on a monthly basis. With this change, opportunities will be listed on a more frequent basis, providing greater lead-time for potential applicants to develop a proposal. The date of the last update will be indicated at the top of the page. Questions? Please contact Barbara Sasso, Senior Grant Writer (bsasso@pacific.edu).

Potential Funding for Unfunded NIH Proposals
The National Institutes of Health (NIH) has teamed up with science and technology solutions company Leidos Life Sciences to give high quality, unfunded, research proposals a second chance for funding. The Online Partnership to Accelerate Research (OnPAR) program will link unfunded NIH applicants with private research funders. Applicants may submit to OnPAR by invitation only, and generally, applicants are invited if they fall in the top 30th percentile  but are not selected for funding by NIH.  NIH will not share any application or review materials with OnPAR. Applicants, at their discretion, will upload their NIH-submitted abstract to the OnPAR website after invitation. The program will connect researchers with private funding options and allow private funders access to NIH's peer review process, without researchers having to develop another proposal. More information is available in this article or at the OnPAR website.
