Faculty Compensation Update

Office of the ProvostFeb 1, 2017

The Faculty Compensation Task Force and the Non-Tenure Track (NTT) Task Force are aligning the timing of their work related to compensation. This alignment of work (peer list development and holistic compensation and compensation philosophy discussions) between the two task forces allows for a comprehensive conversation regarding faculty compensation at Pacific. At their respective last meetings, the task forces reviewed the Draft Compensation Philosophy statement developed by the Faculty Compensation Task Force and continued the work to develop a peer list.

The NTT Task Force submitted to Academic Council (AC) a Faculty Handbook Revision to allow prefixes or suffixes to apply to titles for non-tenure track faculty, which AC approved at its last meeting. This change to section 7.1.4 allows for the non-tenure track title to be modified by a discipline appropriate prefix or suffix. This changes allows for Pacific to align more with titles for NTT faculty used nationally. In addition to its compensation work, the NTT Task Force is continuing conversations with AC regarding establishing opportunities for promotion in rank for lecturers.
