Sunny skies on Saturday, October 24, made for the perfect day for the annual alumni swim meet. With 21 alumni participating in the event, the range of graduates was from 1964 to the most recent 2009 graduates. Head coach Adam Kennedy and the rest of the Pacific swim team and staff would like to send out a special thank you to alumni swimmers John "Kip" Olney ('64), Rick Ingraham ('73), Bob Hayes ('73), and Joe Dietrich ('74) for participating in the event.

Prior to the meet, the Pacific varsity swim team went though a vigorous morning workout. With the team's exhaustion already working against them, the alumni team was given the option of wearing the high-tech swimsuits which are now illegal, since they can help boost faster times. With all these factors in effect, the alumni team dominated the orange Pacific varsity team, 242 to 147, as well as the capturing the victory against black, 197 to 192. Between the two current Pacific swim teams, black beat the orange, 199 to 172.

During the meet, several records were broken for the alumni swimmers. In the women's under 30 races, Sarah Marshall ('04), Kris Arneson ('04), and Lyndsay McNamee ('05) swam a 1:53.86 in the 200 Medley Relay. Marshall also set a new time swimming the 100 Back in 1:01.52.

The 2009 graduate and NCAA qualifier, Jenny Lewis, swam the 50 Fly in 26.57 and 50 Free in 24.65 to set new alumni records. Fellow 2009 graduate Jun Huang broke the 50 Back record with a 29.61.

Arneson set new times with her 32.09 swim in the 50 Breast and 1:01.55 time in the 100 IM.

For the 200 Free Relay, Lewis, Marshall, Sarah Gutierrez ('08), and Arneson teamed up to swim a 1:44.51, marking a new record.

The men's under 30 races, there were many new records set for the alumni team. In the 200 Medley Relay, Chris Chapman ('08), Craig Norman ('08), Krysztof Zoldak ('08), and David Dunn ('08) swam a combined 1:34.50. This same team joined up for the 200 Free and swam a 1:31.92.

Dunn was responsible for breaking many other records amongst alumni swimmers. He swam the 100 Breast in 59.61, the 50 Back in 24.14, the 50 Breast in 27.20, and the 100 Fly in 53.06.

Stephen Quinn ('09) broke the 200 Free time, when he swam a 1:48.96. Chapman took over the 50 Fly record with a time of 23.31. Zoldak touched the wall at 53.23 in the 100 IM to set the new time for that event.

In the men's 50 to 60 races, Joe Dietrich ('74) swam a 2:18.23 in the 200 Free and a 25.80 in the 50 Free to set new time in this age category. Bob Hayes ('73) set a new time for the 100 Free with his swim of 58.92.
