Oct 24, 2009
Artem Gramma (Krivoj Roj, Ukraine) of the Pacific mens tennis team has beat out 112 other competitors for a place in the round of 16 at the 2009 Wilson/ITA Mens Northwest Regional Championships. A win on Sunday morning would secure the No. 17 seed a spot in the quarterfinals.

Gramma upset No. 9 seed Jonathan Dahan of Cal 6-1, 6-4 to advance. The junior picked up another win in doubles play as he and partner Fernando Ristow (Curitaba, Brazil) defeated Santa Claras Mauricio Villa and Nick Buckley 8-3 in the round of 64.

The pair would eventually fall to the No. 1 seeded duo of Bradley Klahn and Ryan Thacher from Stanford 8-3.

Gramma will have to get by Stanfords Matt Kandath Sunday at 10:30 a.m. to reach the quarterfinals. Kandath, also seeded 17th, upset No. 3 seed Jvn Nedunchezhiyan from the University of Washington 7-6(4), 6-1.
