Pacific Men's Tennis: Pacific Falls in Semis at Classic

Oct 31, 2009
The Pacific mens tennis team faltered on Saturday after a great start at the UNLV Rebel Classic. Fernando Ristow (Curitaba, Brazil) is the only Tiger still advancing as he moves through the consolation bracket.

Ristow outlasted Northern Arizonas David Flodberg 2-0 (7-5, 6-3) to continue his play in the tournament. He and Vegerd Veskimagi (Saku, Estonia) defeated Geoff Embry and Pat Metham of Arizona 8-4 in the quarterfinals of doubles play. But UNLVs tandem of Luca Barlocchi and Mehdi Bouras were too much for the pair as they fell 8-4 in the semis.

Artem Gramma (Krivoj Roj, Ukraine) also fell short of the finals. After dropping the first set of his match against Andre Dome of Cal Poly, he came back and took set two 6-2. He battled hard to the end, but could not hold on as he fell 7-6 in the final set.

Sunday, Nov. 1 is the final day of the tournament and marks the end of the Tigers fall season.
