Pacific Men's Tennis: UAB Too Much for Tigers
Overall, said Head Coach Matt Lucas, Im disappointed. We didnt show up in some spots. Artem did a nice job at one and [Vegerd] competed well at No. 5
Artem Gramma (Krivoj Roj, Ukraine) defeated Danny Manlow 6-3, 6-3 in straight sets at the No. 1 position. The win broke the juniors two-game skid and improved his spring singles record to 8-5 overall.
Playing out of the No. 5 position, senior Vegerd Veskimagi (Saku, Estonia) rebounded after dropping set one 6-3 by nearly sweeping set two (6-1) and sent the match into a third and final set.
Veskimagi came back from a one game deficit to force a match-tie break against Tyrone Ewels. But despite leading 4-2, he could not hold on and eventually fell 7-6 (5).
Pacific is back in action this weekend when they face No. 53 Iowa in Indian Wells, Calif. as part of the Wichita State Tournament. Match time against the Hawks is set for March 20 at 1 p.m.
