Women's Water Polo: No. 17 Tigers Host Pacific Invitational, Face-off Against No.3 California
Pacific's women's water polo team remains at No.17 in the latest poll released by the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA). The Tigers have appeared in the Top 20 for the fifth consecutive week since February 17 after defeating No.16 California Baptist at the Road Runner Invite on Saturday, February 13.
Pacific finished the weekend undefeated after picking up a pair of wins over Concordia (10-8) and Fresno-Pacific (10-2). Junior Bridget Geck (Huntington Beach, Calif.) notched five goals in Pacific's win over Concordia for the Tigers, while junior Dara Tawarahara (Honolulu, Hawai'i) and sophomore Katherine Biehle (Visalia, Calif.) notched three goals apiece in Pacific's victory over Fresno-Pacific.
The Tigers saw their 13 game win streak come to an end on Tuesday, March 16 in a tough battle against No. 16 Indiana. Pacific trailed Indiana 8-7 with 0:41 on the clock when junior Bethany Quertermous (Humble, Texas) found the back of the net to send the game into double overtime. Quertermous then went on put Pacific up 9-8 at the 2:28 mark in the first overtime period, but the Hoosiers notched two goals in the second overtime to defeat the Tigers 10-9.
Pacific Invite
Pacific's women's water polo team returns to action this Saturday, March 20, as the Tigers host the 2010 Pacific Invite at Chris Kjeldsen Pool. Teams participating in this year's tournament includes Santa Cruz, Harvard, Cal State Monterey Bay, No.17 Indiana and No. 3 California. The Tigers will face Harvard at 11:20 a.m. and No. 3 California at 4 p.m.
