Pacific Women's Basketball Tabbed to Finish Sixth in Big West Media Poll

The Big West Conference unveiled its 2009 Women's Basketball Media Poll and the Pacific women's basketball team was voted to pull up in the sixth slot in conference during the 2009-10 season.

The Tigers, who bring back one starter and feature a squad split with returners and newcomers finished 14-16 overall and 8-8 for a fourth-place Big West Conference finish in 2008-09. From the home comfort of the Alex G. Spanos Center, Pacific set a school record with a 12-2 finish in front of the home crowd.

20 members of the media affiliated with Big West universities voted UC Santa Barbara to take the top slot, as the Gauchos earned 10 first-place votes. UC Davis follows behind as the predicted runner-up with six first-place votes and Cal Poly rounds out to top three, with three members of the media picking the Mustangs to finish in first.

Similarly, voters were asked to pick six players for the 2009-10 All-Conference Team. The results were as follows: Haylee Donaghe (UC Davis), Karina Figueroa (Long Beach State), Whitney Fields (Long Beach State), Jordan Franey (UC Santa Barbara), Paige Mintun (UC Davis(, Kristina Santiago (Cal Poly).
