NIH Financial Conflict of Interest
The National Institutes of Health recently amended their Financial Conflict of Interest (FCOI) Regulation. The changes in the FCOI Regulation are significant, and the University of the Pacific is revising its policy and procedures to bring the institution and researchers into compliance with the regulation.
All research personnel (including subrecipients) who are listed on NIH grant applications will be affected by this new regulation. These individuals will be required to disclose their Significant Financial Interests (SFI) two weeks before their NIH proposal deadline, and receive training by the deadline. Additionally, all current NIH grant recipients will be required to disclose their SFI and take the training at the time they submit an interim progress report.
You can learn about the new FCOI Regulation and your responsibilities as a researcher by visiting http://grants.nih.gov/grants/policy/coi/ .
The Office of Sponsored Programs will conduct a workshop about the Regulation on September 25, 2012 from 12pm-1pm in DC 211AB; the workshop will have an exit exam and will replace the required NIH tutorial. To RSVP please contact Carol Brodie, 209-946-7367, cbrodie@pacific.edu
