"I'm thankful for supportive faculty that let me jump around between majors until I found something that fit for me. I've always had a huge desire to help people and I knew Pacific would allow me to do that."

Christine had her heart set on practicing law when she came to Pacific as an English major and Pacific Legal Scholar. "Then halfway through the program I realized law just wasn't for me."

During her Sophomore year, she took a biology class as an elective and enjoyed it so much that she started taking upper-division classes and became a biology tutor for Pacific athletes.

"I loved it," she said.

She added on a biology minor to her already full class load and the rest is history.

"I'm thankful for supportive faculty that let me jump around between majors until I found something that fit for me. The best mentorship I've had came from the English faculty. They really took the time to understand my goals. Professor Xiaojing Zhou taught me so much about diversity and how to be sensitive to other cultures, which is something I will bring into my medical career."

Starting in the summer, Christine will work as a medical scribe at St. Joseph's Medical Center in Stockton. After she completes 1,000 hours of patient care, she plans to apply to Pacific's new Physician Assistant program in Sacramento.

"I've always had a huge desire to help people and I knew Pacific would allow me to do that."

In the meantime, Christine is training for a half marathon and writing her first novel.
