Why did you decide to pursue a Master of Arts degree in Food Studies?
I wanted to strengthen my understanding of local and global food systems.

What is something that surprised you about the field of Food Studies?
 I've been surprised at how vast yet unknown the field of Food Studies is! 

What topic have you found most compelling in your studies?
I enjoyed learning about food writing last semester. It was great to meet and learn from professional food writers. From veteran cookbook authors to fierce food journalists, all had interesting advice for aspiring food writers. 

What is one of your favorite San Francisco food experiences?
I love the magic of the Ferry Plaza Farmer's Market. Nothing beats waking up early on a Saturday morning to take in the edible beauty alongside farmers and chefs. 

How do you envision putting this degree to work?
I'm interested in studying the tech industry's impact on the food system. Specifically how free lunch programs at tech companies impact local food hubs and small farms.
