Games and puzzles inspire my continued and renewing interest in mathematics. This has shaped my approach to my upper division courses. Cryptography is all about the mathematics of secret codes and messages, puzzle solving inspires many of the models used in graph theory, and beneath the most complex graphics of any computer game is linear algebra.
