I try to teach students to DO philosophy. I aim to help them reason clearly about things they are interested in. The courses I teach all challenge students to think deeply, honestly and critically about their own beliefs, and how they do or don't accurately reflect the way the world is, and what they will do about it.
Philosophy, both the method and the content that philosophers have created over the centuries, is important to living life well. In the service of making students philosophers, I teach advanced reading and writing skills so that they can continue learning and developing as thinkers...even without the structure and guidance of a formal class.
