I use different styles of teaching depending on the type of course that I am teaching. In the courses I teach related to the study of law, I use a Socratic method that encourages students to identify the essential elements of law found in particular cases. This style of teaching, in turn, provokes students to debate salient topics in constitutional, criminal, and comparative law pertaining to free speech, criminal due process rights and other fundamental freedoms. In my American Government courses, I use a mixture of lectures, group exercises, films, and student presentations to get students actively involved in understanding and analyzing critical theoretical concepts, and debating current controversies in U.S. politics. Students find my style of teaching rigorous, energetic, engaging, and at times, humorous. Bottom line: I enjoy interacting with students and encouraging them to push their intellectual development in my classes.
