Pacific Theatre Arts proudly announces the Fall 2014 Mainstage Production: a collection of poetic one-acts by acclaimed playwright Tennessee Williams. 27 Wagons

Full of Cotton, This Property Is Condemned, and Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen are a searing, unabashed look the ultimate destructivity of neglect. The one-acts are a relentless probe into the callousness of a society that refuses to respect and protect the innocence that is peculiarly sacred in a young girl.

Williams illustrates through poetic realism the stirring portraits of women who have suffered at the hands of their protectors. Willie, Woman, and Flora are seen through Tennessee Williams's eyes as destroyed young women, images and reflections of his beloved sister Rose. And yet these women emerge as tragic heroes as they discover ways to survive.

This Property Is Condemned features a young, starry-eyed waif wandering the railroad tracks. Talk to Me Like the Rain and Let Me Listen explores the intimate desperation between two people who, even though they are on their last legs, love each other more than anything. Dubbed a "Delta Comedy" by Williams himself, 27 Wagons Full of Cotton takes place on the porch of a Mississippi home. Jake commits arson on the neighboring plantation in order to increase business for his own, and the owner of the destroyed plantation aims to take revenge on Jake through his fragile and delicate wife Flora.

These one-acts are directed by Lisa A. Tromovitch and will take place in the Thomas J. Long Theatre.
