Daniel Kasser
Teaching Art at Pacific
Some of the most gratifying and challenging experiences I have had teaching in the arts at Pacific have been introducing students to great artists and inspiring the self-discipline and patience it requires becoming an accomplished artist. My teaching incorporates a career of accumulating respect for an inter-disciplinary involvement through the arts and embracing the record of our social and technological history of art and society through photography. Through my role as professor/academic advisor at Pacific, I introduce students to a range of photographic concepts, methods and opportunities early in their education. I prepare projects that introduce and develop multiple levels of understanding, photography's objective and subjective potential, and projects worthy of their professional portfolio.
In our major's capstone courses I provide greater professional exposure, insight and preparation for the essential ingredients (artists' identity, business and intellectual property management) in preparation for transition to short and long term career opportunities in the arts. Mastering fundamental skills throughout a student's undergraduate years at Pacific is the best preparation for the exciting cycles of change I can offer to a young artist's career in the arts and their potential for future achievement.
