The University of the Pacific has established a set of seven university-wide learning objectives.
- Major Field Competence
- Critical and Creative Thinking
- Collaboration and Leadership
- Intercultural and Global Perspectives
- Ethical Reasoning
These objectives give students, faculty, administration and staff a clear and concise understanding of the essential learning goals of a Pacific education. In other words, through your studies at Pacific, you can expect to acquire skills, knowledge, characteristics and values related to the objectives.
Having an established set of common goals allows Pacific to assess outcomes at the university-level in order to continuously improve teaching and learning.
Each academic discipline, or department, within the College of the Pacific has developed its own set of expected learning outcomes. These tie in to the university-wide objectives, but give students majoring in the discipline a more specific set of expectations. You will find the discipline-specific learning objectives on each of our academic department websites.
