Shared Governance

The faculty in the College of the Pacific play an active role in academic affairs and other university concerns by serving on standing committees of the College as well as University committees.

Descriptions of the committees are provided below along with current members.

The responsibilities of the faculty pertaining to the governance of the College are set forth in the College Bylaws.

Committee for Academic Planning and Development (CAPD)

This faculty committee has primary responsibility for the encouragement of the professional development of faculty as teachers, and it will serve as an advisory board for the Pacific Center for Teaching Excellence. Faculty Research

The Faculty Research Committee reviews and recommends policies and practices affecting research; it allocates University Scholarly Activity Grants in conjunction with the Office of the Provost. University Graduate Studies Committee

The Committee on Graduate Studies is charged with ensuring the quality of graduate education on the Stockton Campus and with reviewing and making recommendations on all policies and practices affecting graduate education on the Stockton campus. The Committee approves new graduate courses and reviews graduate programs. The Committee recommends deletions and/or changes of graduate courses. All recommendations of the Committee are made to the Dean of Graduate Studies who is responsible for seeking final approval of such recommendations or for implementing them.
