Patrick Johnston to teach California Politics and Government during Fall 2008

Former California State Senator Patrick Johnston will teach POLS 106--California Government and Politics during the Fall 2008 semester.

Johnston served for 20 years in the State Legislature; 10 in the Assembly and 10 in the Senate where he chaired the Committee on Appropriations for 6 years. California Journal named him "best state legislator in California" during his service in the State Senate. He was the first legislator in residence at University of California-Berkeley's Institute of Government.

Johnston is currently Chairman of the California Foundation on the Environment and the Economy and he serves on the Advisory Board of the Petris Center on Health Care Markets and Consumer Welfare. He is Vice Chairman of the California Bay Delta Authority, the governing body for the state-federal water management system.

Johnston is a graduate of St. Patrick's College (philosophy) and holds a Master's Degree from C.S.U. Sacramento (political representation).
