Student Film Festival a Big Success
Look out Cannes and Hollywood! Pacific's Film Studies Program held a two-night Student Film Festival and awards presentation, unleashing a torrent of talent from students of the Introduction to Film Production and Advanced Film Production classes.
The event took place on campus in the newly renamed Janet Leigh Theatre on May 10-11, 2010. Nearly 250 people attended, which was a highly successful turnout, especially considering it was a weeknight event during finals week.
Altogether, 32 student films were screened. Pacific's CineCat Awards were given out for various categories, as listed below.
The Student Film Festival was organized by Dr. Patti McCarthy, who teaches the film production classes and has a wealth of experience in the film industry. She received support from Technology Specialist Kevin Hogan (School of Education); Drs. Eric Sonstroem and John Lessard (English); Tom Connor, Audio Visual Specialist for ASUOP; emeritus Larry Meredith (Religious & Classical Studies); and student assistant, Melanie Hash, who all helped to make the festival a big success.
Feeling creative? Students can submit entries for the campus-wide Student Film Festival in fall 2010. You do not have to be enrolled in a Film Studies course to enter the fall event. Contact
