Guest Speakers & Field Trips

Pixar Studios

Pacific Music Management students spent an enlightening February 2018 morning touring and learning about animated film production at Pixar Studios in Emeryville, CA. High points included a tour and visit with Pixar Sound Editor Barney Jones who screened two Pixar shorts in their amazing campus theater, and shared insights into the making of "Coco" including the whole process from scripting to post production. We also toured an extensive art gallery of the models, sculptures and 2-D artwork that Pixar artists created to build the imaginative worlds of "Coco."

Kevin and Sierra Lyman

Warped Tour Founder Kevin Lyman was a recent guest speaker at Pacific, pictured here, along with Sierra Lyman, who is Director of Non-Profits for Warped, after their visit to Music Industry Forum. Kevin gave a featured evening presentation titled "How to Think Like an Entrepreneur" which students from all majors attended. Sierra did breakout sessions with Pacific students working on philanthropy projects to improve our local community and both attended the annual Hunger Banquet, put on by Pacific's Council of Social Entrepreneurs to raise awareness and funding for the campus food pantry to assist students in need.

Samantha Juneman

Samantha Juneman, class of 2011, was the 2017-2018 Practitioner-in-Residence for the Music Industry program, visiting campus for three days in October 2017. Samantha currently serves as Director of Commercial Partnerships (Global) for Universal Music Group, the world's largest music company. Samantha provided insights into her background as a social media manager and strategist to students in both undergraduate and graduate classes. Here she is pictured with the students in the social media marketing class.  Prior to her work at Universal, she worked on the agency side providing counsel and campaigns for clients such as Warner Brothers Pictures, HTC, IHOP, Kia, Microsoft, Paramount Pictures and Cheesecake Factory.

On March 29, 2017 Pacific students helped to plan and produce the latest in a series of music business symposia: Music in Media: Challenges, Trends and Opportunities at Pacific's San Francisco campus. The daylong event featured leaders from the music, film, gaming and technology sectors. Pictured here (L-R) are Andrew Stess, Founder of StessCo Consulting, Jeff Daniel, President and co-founder of StarMaker mobile platform, Will Littlejohn, Director of Sound Design at Facebook, Associate Professor Michelle Manghise who moderated the panel, Nic Chang, Digital Producer and Brand Manager at Red Bull Music and Becky Ann Hughes, Vice President and GM at Glu Mobile.
