Certification (Equivalency) Program

Mandarin, Korean, and Japanese translations.

This program is for individuals who have a bachelor’s degree in music (e.g., performance, music education, music management, etc.) or those with degrees in related fields (e.g., psychology, special education, etc.). The Certification Program focuses on the completion of all music/music therapy courses, competencies, and clinical internship, as required by the AMTA prerequisites to sit for the Music Therapy Board Certification Examination. Passing the Board Certification Examination certifies individuals to begin the professional practice of music therapy. (Learn more: CBMT and MT-BC requirements).

This program is a popular and flexible option for mature individuals making a career change.  The length of the Certification program may vary due to practical issues such as work and family commitments. The number of courses required will vary according to academic background and musical skills.

The music therapy faculty works closely with Certification students to design an individualized plan in a cost-effective and timely manner and to expedite entry into the music therapy job market.

For details on the course requirements see the current Pacific catalogue.
