Director's message to parents
Now entering its 70th year, Pacific Music Camp is one of the oldest music camps in California. This past summer, we served approximately 375 junior and senior high schools students from 280 different schools in 150 cities.
Music camp might be a child’s first overnight experience away from home. I am proud to say that we have an astonishing student return rate of 46%. I can attribute this to several factors: the social experiences due to the strength of our counselors, the musical experiences due to the strength of our faculty, and the fact that students tell us they have a great time. Friendships are made that will last a lifetime.
I am always impressed at how many people tell me they attended Pacific Music Camp. Alumni include Cornelius Bumpus of the Doobie Brothers and Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead and the list of guest conductors is a who’s who in the music world including the likes of Arthur Fielder who conducted the Boston Pops Orchestra for 50 years.
As a child, attending music camp left me with big dreams. I invite you to let your child dream big at Pacific Music Camp.
