Curriculum Vitae 

Matt Logan, MA, MT-BC is a clinical music therapist at UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital in San Francisco, California. He earned both his Bachelor of Music and Master of Arts in Music Therapy from The University of Iowa. Between 2010 and 2015 Mr. Logan worked as a music therapist at The Joy of Music, The University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City Hospice, and Children's Hospital and Research Center Oakland.

Mr. Logan's varied clinical experience ranges from pediatric rehabilitation and oncology to private practice, older adult care, and hospice. He has served as a practicum supervisor and internship supervisor at Children's Hospital Oakland, and as a practicum supervisor and teaching assistant at The University of Iowa.  

Mr. Logan's master's research focused on requisite guitar skills for entry-level music therapists, which informs his workshops, conference presentations, and guest lectures on the topic of musicianship in therapy. He serves as the Media Relations Coordinator for the Western Region of the American Music Therapy Association and is a representative in the Assembly of Delegates for the American Music Therapy Association. He has published several non-print materials such as "Practicing Music Therapy in the NICU: An Interview with Kim Hawkins," "The Role of Music in Developing Infant Attachment: An Interview with Cynthia Briggs," "Ten Essential Skills for Working in Early Childhood Settings," "Co-treating with Speech-language Pathologists - Before, During, and After the Session," and "Tweaking Children's Songs for a Different Clinical Purpose: A Teaching Episode."    In 2009, Mr. Logan founded MusicTherapySource.com, an ongoing project in advocacy and education for music therapists and future music therapists, and in 2016 launched the Music Therapy Source Guitar Club. He is also a host on the Music Therapy Round Table Podcast.
