Edward Cetto

Edward Cetto has been assistant professor of choral music at the University of the Pacific, Conservatory of Music since 1994. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree in vocal and instrumental music education from the Hartt School of Music-University of Hartford, the Master of Music degree in choral conducting from the Boston Conservatory of Music, and the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in performance and pedagogy in choral conducting from the University of Iowa.

Dr. Cetto has performed on many occasions with Dave Brubeck and sung with Bobby McFerrin. He has also prepared choruses for Michael Tilson Thomas and the Pittsburgh Symphony, Peter Jaffe and the Stockton Symphony and often leads the University Symphony Orchestra in choral masterworks.  He was Artistic Director of the Stockton Chorale from 1999-2010. As a church musician, he was Director of Music at the Cathedral of the Annunciation from 1996-2002. A specialist in Kodály methodology, he presents workshop in the U.S. and week-long teacher training courses annually in Ireland. He recently conducted the annual "Summer Rose Concert" in Dublin featuring soloists from Japan and the MET. He also conducts honor choirs in California. Dr Cetto was the 2010 Muto Lecturer in Buddhism at the University of the Pacific. He is a jazz pianist and has a keen interest in Ireland.

In the Conservatory, Dr. Cetto conducts the Pacific Singers, Oriana Choir, University Chorus, and teaches choral methods, applied conducting, and solfeggio.
