Edward Cetto
Edward Cetto, professor of choral music, joined the faculty in 1994. He holds a Bachelor of Music Education degree in vocal and instrumental music from the Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford, the
Master of Music in Choral Conducting from the Boston Conservatory of Music, and the Doctor of Musical Arts in Performance and Pedagogy in Choral Conducting from the University of Iowa. He has also earned the Kodaly Certificate from the Kodaly Musical Training Institute. His major teachers were William Hatcher and Allen Lannom in choral conducting, James Dixon in orchestral conducting, Suzanne Cleverdon in harpsichord, and Gabi Thesz and Tibor Szabo in solfeggio.
Dr. Cetto served as Interim Director of Choral Activities at California State University - Sacramento, and has also served as conductor of the Stockton Chorale and the choir of the Cathedral of the Annunciation (Stockton, CA). He has prepared choruses for Dave Brubeck, Michael Tilson-Thomas, Peter Jaffe, and Aleksander Dmitrijev and the St. Petersburg Symphony Orchestra (Russia). Dr. Cetto is a member of the American Choral Directors Association.
In the Conservatory, Dr. Cetto conducts the Pacific Singers, Oriana Choir, University Chorus, and teaches choral methods, applied conducting, and solfeggio.
