Henry Robinett

Henry Robinett studied guitar with Jack Warren, Lee Havens and Warren Nunes and piano with Jerry Murphy. On the national scene, he has performed with Frank Strozier, Muhal Richard Abrams, Chico Freeman, George Lewis, Ricky Ford, Bob Neloms, Junior Cook, Clifford Jordon, Armen Donelian, and Charles Mingus.  Locally, Mr. Robinett has performed with Charlie Peacock, Bourgeois Tagg, Black Ice, and Jakarta.  The Henry Robinett Group's 1985 recording on Artful Balance Records received a 4 star review in Downbeat Magazine and was also featured in Jazziz Magazine.  He has since released two additional recordings; Life X 2 and When Fortresses Fall

In 1989, Mr. Robinett was voted Best Local Musician by Sacramento Magazine leading to a string of other awards including Best Local Musician from the Sacramento News and Review (1990-92), Best Jazz Band, Sammies Award (1993-95), and in 1996, he was inducted into the Sammies Hall of Fame. 

Mr. Robinett manages his own recording company (Nefertiti Records), publishing company (Life X Two Music), and recording studio (Blue Degrees Digital).  As an educator, he was a member of the jazz department at the American Institute of Music in Vienna, Austria teaching guitar, jazz ensemble, music theory and music business.
