Joe Mazzaferro

Trumpeter, Educator, Composer, and Arranger Joe Joe MazzaferroMazzaferro has been active in the Sacramento and Stockton jazz scenes since 2002. In 2006, he received his bachelor's degree in Music Education from the University of the Pacific and, in 2009, received his Master's Degree in Jazz and Studio Music from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where he served as the Graduate Teaching Assistant. While in Knoxville he performed with the Knoxville Jazz Orchestra and studied improvisation and composition with Donald Brown, Mark Boling, and Vance Thompson.  Joe has also performed with Wycliffe Gordon, Jim Snidero, Jeff Clayton, Jimmy Heath, Kevin Mahogany, Lewis Nash, Ingrid Jensen, Patrick Langham, Simon Rowe, and the Capital Jazz Project.  Currently, Joe teaches various jazz courses at Pacific and serves as the musical
director and co-founder of the Sacramento Jazz Orchestra.
