Zeiter Piano Competition

The 2010 Henry and Carol Zeiter Piano Competition for high school pianists took place on the campus of the Conservatory at Pacific on Saturday, Jan. 16th. Thirty pianists submitted cd recorded auditions for the preliminary round, and seventeen performed as semi-finalists in the live audition round on Saturday. Each performed a fifteen-minute recital for the largest crowd in the history of the competition, which is open to the public.

First prize and a check for $1000.00 cash were won by Fantee Jones, a senior from Roseville. Second prize and a check for $750.00 were won by Hilda Huang, a freshman from Palo Alto. Third prize and a check for $500.00 went to Jade Huang of Granite Bay. Four other pianists were selected to perform in master classes by Professors Rex Cooper and Frank Wiens of the Conservatory faculty, which took place that afternoon. The prize fund is donated annually by the Henry and Carol Zeiter Foundation and the competition, which takes place every January, is also supported by many other donors.
