Thomas Brierton

Expertise: Employment Law & Entertainment Law

Thomas Brierton is an Associate Professor of Business Law in the Eberhardt School of Business at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. He specializes in Employment Law and Entertainment Law.

Thomas has been involved in both the academic and legal environments for the past twenty-five years. He has taught a variety of courses on the graduate level, executive programs for the Westgate Center for Management Development in the Eberhardt School of Business, the Graziadio Graduate School of Management at Pepperdine University, the Atkinson Graduate School of Management at Willamette University, and the College of Business at Northern Illinois University. In addition, he teaches Entertainment Law at McGeorge School of Law in Sacramento, California.

Thomas, as an attorney, has litigated a wide variety of cases in private practice and served as a consultant to many organization throughout the western half of the United States. He has testified as an expert before the California Legislature on employment bills. He has written and published journal articles in the employment and entertainment law areas and consistently presents papers at national and regional meeting of the Academy of Legal Studies in Business, the Rocky Mountain Academy of Legal Studies in Business, and the Music and Entertainment Industries Educators Association.

 


AWARDS & RECOGNITION

Thomas Brierton, Eberhardt School of Business, has his article, "The Law of Infant Waivers: Wong v. Lok's Martial Arts Centre Inc." published in the University of British Columbia Law Review. It was co-authored with Peter Bowal and John Rollett.

Thomas Brierton appeared as a member of a panel with two other law professors on the topic of: "An Academic Perspective on Intellectual Property" during Intellectual Property Week at McGeorge School of Law, Sacramento, CA.

Thomas Brierton presented his co-authored paper with Peter Bowal, "Rest In Peace: Now Hand Over the Publicity Rights" at the Rocky Mountain Academy of Legal Studies in Business Conference in Vail, Colorado.

Thomas Brierton presented his co-authored paper with Peter Bowal and Ashley Lavon Hines, "Preserving Postmortem Publicity Rights Under State Law: The Battle Over Who Owns The Image" at the North Atlantic Business Law Association Conference in Boston, MA.
