PHILOSOPHY
Dr. Serna's philosophy centers on teaching, research and mentorship of aspiring educational leaders. His role as an instructor is to help students understand how key leadership, legal, and human resource concepts can apply to the solution of complex and often ambiguous problems faced by school leaders. As a former school leader, Dr. Serna uses real life stories, scenarios, and problems in his teaching to inform students about this challenging profession. Dr. Serna believes in connecting with aspiring administrators on an individual basis and gives advice and mentorship to students in their fieldwork to help them succeed as educational leaders.
