Prior to assuming my role as professor and department chair of Educational Administration and Leadership at the University of Pacific, I spent fifteen years at Texas A&M University in a variety of faculty and administrative roles and before that worked as a middle school and high school teacher and campus and district administrator in Texas public schools. My research focuses on educational equity issues in school leadership, including accountability policy, high success school districts, and women superintendents. I am immediate past Vice President of Division A of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), editor of Educational Administration Quarterly, and co-author or co-editor of six books, the most recent of which is Using Equity Audits in the Classroom to Reach and Teach All Students (Corwin Press, 2011).
I look forward to teaching our master's and doctoral students, to working with our terrific faculty and staff, and to providing leadership for our thriving graduate programs in administration and leadership. Most of all, I look forward to working in partnership with leaders in the community and state to develop school leaders and to conduct research that will contribute toward the improvement of schooling for all children.
