Admission and Tuition

Admission Criteria

Prospective students must submit the following materials to the Research and Graduate Studies Office at the University of the Pacific. A completed application includes:

  • The Graduate School application form (or apply online)
  • Contact information for three references
  • Transcripts from the institution where the BS in engineering or computer science (or relevant degree) was granted
  • A personal statement on professional goals and objectives
  • GRE (Graduate Record Exam) General Examination test scores. (MCAT's are acceptable for students interested in the Bioengineering concentration.)  GRE testing is available every weekday at nearby testing centers.  GRE scores can be no older than 5 years old.   • For students whose first language is not English, the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) is required. The minimum score for admission is 550 (paper), 213 (computer), or 79-80 (internet) and the minimum score for a teaching assistantship award is 575 (paper), 231 (computer) or 89-90 (internet).
  • Candidates for the M.S. degree must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science or a closely related discipline. Candidates holding a Bachelor's degree in fields other than Engineering or Computer Science would need to complete additional courses in addition to their normal master's courses.   Click here to open pdf of MSES Undergraduate Pre-Requisites Guidelines.


Blended Program Students
Students concurrently enrolled in the Pacific School of Engineering and CS who are interested in the Blended Program only need to complete the following:

  • The graduate School application form
  • A personal statement on professional goals and objectives


Tuition
Students in the Blended Option follow the published undergraduate tuition rates. Students in the pure M.S. program follow the published graduate tuition rates.

Unclassified Graduate Students
Students may take a maximum of 12 graduate units before they must file an application for admission in the Office of Research and Graduate Studies. These 12 units are subject to approval towards a graduate degree. Check with the Office of Research and Graduate Studies for deadline dates.

Note: An official transcript showing a Bachelor's degree must be verified at the same time this form is submitted.
