How to Apply

To apply for the Master of Science in Data Science program:
1. Click Apply Now and go to the Data Science section.
2. Choose "Spring (insert year) Application" or "Fall (insert year) Application."
3. Create an account on Pacific's online application portal. If you already have an account, you can sign in.
4. Click Create New Application and select the application option for Data Science.
5. Fill out your information.

When filling out the application, be sure to select 'Fall' only if you wish to apply to the San Francisco program, and 'Spring' only if you wish to apply to the Sacramento program. You can save your progress at any time and finish your application later. A $50 application fee will be collected at the end of the application process.

Admission Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in any field
  • Must have coursework or experience in:
    - Linear algebra
    - Statistics
    - Programming in a high-level language (experience in R and Python preferred)

  • Statement of interest2

Neither the GRE nor the GMAT is required for admission to this program. International students must have the U.S. equivalent of a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for admission to the program and may be required to provide additional materials.

1. An official set of transcripts from each institution you have attended is required as part of the application.

2. The purpose of a statement of interest is to allow applicants to demonstrate their motivation, skills, and abilities that will contribute to their academic success in our program. While there is no specific format required for this statement, applicants are advised to give particular consideration to:

  • Academic credentials
  • Experience in the foundational concepts of:
  • Statistics
  • Linear Algebra
  • Computer programming (any language, but Python and R are preferred)
  • Commitment and personal stamina to undertake fast paced, intensive academic program
  • Enthusiasm for this particular course of study.
