How to Apply

When filling out the application, be sure to select 'Fall' only if you wish to apply to the San Francisco program, and 'Spring' only if you wish to apply to the Sacramento program.

To apply for the Master of Science in Data Science program, click Apply Now where you will be asked to register for an account on Pacific's online application portal. If you already have an account you can sign in.

Once your account has been created and you are signed in to the application portal, click Create New Application, select the application option for 'Data Science,' and begin filling out your information. You can save your progress at any time and finish your application later. A $50 application fee will be collected at the end of the application process.

Students must complete 32 units for degree conferral. The program consists of 4 semesters spread over 2 academic years. 

Admission Requirements
The following are required in order to be admitted into the program:

  • Undergraduate degree
  • Transcripts1
  • Two to three letters of recommendation (3 required for Fall 2017 admission; 2 required beginning Spring 2018)
  • Resume
  • Statement of interest2

Neither the GRE nor the GMAT is required for admission to this program.  International students must have the U.S. equivalent of a 3.0 GPA to be eligible for admission to the program.

2. The purpose of a statement of interest is to allow applicants to demonstrate their motivation, skills, and abilities that will contribute to their academic success in our program. While there is no specific format required for this statement, applicants are advised to give particular consideration to:

  • Academic credentials
  • Experience in the foundational concepts of:
  • Statistics
  • Linear Algebra
  • Computer programming (any language, but Python and R are preferred)
  • Commitment and personal stamina to undertake fast paced, intensive academic program
  • Enthusiasm for this particular course of study.
