Civil Engineering Objectives
The Civil Engineering program at the University of the Pacific subscribes to the following Program Objectives:

  • Plan, design, construct, maintain, analyze, advance, and manage civil engineering systems 
  • Pursue professional licensure and certifications 
  • Engage in life-long learning and pursue advanced level studies
  • Demonstrate leadership skills through career advancement and active participation in the civil engineering profession and in the community 

Civil Engineering Outcomes
Students who complete the B.S. degree in CE will be able to:

  • Apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering 
  • Design and conduct experiments, as well as analyze and interpret data
  • Design a system, component or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability, and sustainability     
  • Function on multi-disciplinary teams
  • Identify, formulate, and solve engineering problems
  • Understand the importance of professional and ethical responsibilities
  • Communicate effectively
  • Understand the impact of civil engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context
  • Recognize the need for, and engage in, lifelong learning
  • Have a knowledge of contemporary issues 
  • Use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for engineering practice
