Order of the Engineer Ceremony

Feb 19, 2008

Dear Engineering Community:

Order of the EngineerI am pleased to invite you to attend our annual ceremony for the University of the Pacific Link of the Order of the Engineer.  We will be holding the traditional installation:

Ceremony will be held during Engineers Week
Regent’s Dining Room (Pacific Campus)
5:30 – 6:15 p.m.
(A reception will follow)

If you have not already participated in this tradition, then as Dean of the School of Engineering and Computer Science, I would be pleased to have you join us as our guest and to be inducted into the Order of the Engineer.  I believe you will find it to be a memorable event and I encourage you to join us.

The Order of the Engineer is an organization that seeks to promote professionalism. It is founded upon the following two principles:

  1. The primary purpose of engineering is service to the public, and
  2. All members of the engineering profession share a common bond.

Each person who accepts the Obligation of the Engineer at the ceremony is given a stainless steel ring and a certificate.  There are no annual dues and no meetings to attend, other than the installation ceremony. The only requirement is your personal commitment to live your professional life by the two principles stated above.

To RSVP for this event you need to contact Peggy Shubert at 946-3905 or pshubert@pacific.edu.  She will help you to size your finger for the stainless steel ring.  You must do this by February 5th.

Thank you for considering this invitation.

Sincerely,

Ravi Jain
Dean, School of Engineering and Computer Science
