Labs and Facilities
The School of Engineering and Computer Science occupies four main classroom and laboratory buildings in the center of campus. Labs provide students with a hands-on experience to apply their classroom knowledge and an opportunity to apply research and scientific methods. The School's labs are equipped with the up-to-date equipment and technology and are a significant resource for students.
- Anderson Hall
The computer lab in Anderson Hall is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week to engineering and computer science students. Computers are equipped with latest versions of programs used in industry practice. The Digital Design Laboratory and Sun Ray Laboratory are also located in Anderson Hall, as are a number of faculty offices and classrooms.
- Baun Hall
Several labs for the electrical and computer engineering programs are located in Baun Hall, including the Electric Circuits and Energy Conversion Lab, Electronics & Measurement Laboratory, Cisco Networking Laboratory, Embedded Systems & Microcontroller Lab. The Materials Testing Lab and faculty offices are also housed in Baun Hall, as is the MESA Program Office.
- Khoury Hall
Labs for mechatronics, energy, intelligent systems, environmental engineering, and instrumentation are housed in Khoury Hall, in addition to faculty offices, classrooms, and a Sun Ray Lab. There is also an open lounge which is often used as a study area.
John T. Chambers Technology Center
Opened in October 2010, the John T. Chambers Technology Center is the School's newest building. Certified LEED Gold, the 23,500 square foot facility offers an increasingly superior teaching and learning environment and features the following:
- 7 research, teaching, and industry project labs
- 28 faculty offices
- 1 studio classroom and lab
- 2 lecture labs and classrooms
- 1 reception area
- 2 conference rooms
- 2 student study areas
- Dean's administration area
Other major facilities include the following:
The Hyrdaulics Lab supports courses fluid mechanics, water resources, and research. It contains a 16 ft. open channel with a recirculating pump system and orifice plate meter for flow rate measure. It also houses equipment to be used for Surveying Lab, Environmental Engineering, Soil Mechanics, and more.
South Campus Lab
South Campus Labs support manufacturing and construction needs for all programs and activities, from core mechanical engineering classes to senior research and design projects. It houses the Felix Wallace Structures Laboratory, Virtual Reality Laboratory, and open computer labs.
