Naloxone Webinar - March 30
Last year the California Pharmacists Association (CPhA) co-sponsored the legislative bill AB 1535 (Bloom) which was passed and signed by the Governor in September. This bill allows pharmacists to independently initiate and furnish Naloxone to patients and caregivers at risk of opioid overdose. CPhA placed an emergency regulations clause in the statute, which empowered the Board of Pharmacy (BOP) to expedite the development and passage of the required statewide protocol and authorizing regulations. The BOP completed their work at the February meeting and is in the process of filing the regulatory package with the Office of Administrative Law (OAL). This means that within the next few days or so pharmacists will be empowered to provide this care to their patients and communities under their existing scope of practice.
CPhA is offering a webinar on the evening of March 30th to provide pharmacists and their staff the necessary information regarding the regulations/protocol as well as a clinical overview of Naloxone. For more information visit http://www.cpha.com/Webinars.
