The pharmacy course elective "Opportunities in Pharmacy Practice" and Dr. Ed Sherman, Adjunct Faculty, Department of Pharmacy Practice, was featured in the May 2011 issue of America's Pharmacist. America's Pharmacist is a monthly publication issued by the National Community Pharmacists Association, NCPA.
The article discusses the purpose and growth of the course and how Dr. Sherman uses his unique approach in "developing communication skills among students, which is an essential quality of a good pharmacist." Dr. Sherman has been the course coordinator for the past 11 years.
The course requires students to read NCPA Digest, sponsored by Cardinal Health, and America's Pharmacist, conduct two to three presentations, as well as prepare, submit, and present a business plan in teams of two or three.
Dr. Sherman's recognition as 2008 Faculty Mentor Award recipient is also mentioned.
