Jill K. Duthie earned her bachelor of arts in Speech and Hearing Sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1972. She continued her education at California State University, Northridge and earned her master of arts in communication disorders in 1976. In 2005 she graduated from University of Oregon in communication sciences and disorders earning her doctor of philosophy.
Soon after earning her masters, Dr. Duthie worked as a clinical supervisor at the University of Oregon. In 2003 she became an instructor/clinical supervisor at Portland State. In 2006 she joined the Pacific Speech-Language Pathology family as an Assistant Professor.
