I-20 Requirements

A Form I-20 is a Certificate of Eligibility for Nonimmigrant (F-1) Student Status. It documents that you have been admitted to the school that issued you the I-20. Use the Form I-20 to apply for an F-1 visa. Your Form I-20 is proof of your status and should be kept with your passport.

The Form I-20 certifies that you:

  • Are or expect to be a "bona fide" student.
  • Meet Pacific's admissions requirements
  • Plan to pursue a full course of study
  • Proved you have funds to support your study in the U.S.

You need a Form I-20 to obtain an F-1 student visa or status, or to keep lawful F-l status when transferring or changing schools within the U.S.

  • Completed University of the Pacific Application for Admission
  • Application Fee
  • Essay
  • Official Record of Study (Transcript)
  • Proficiency in English (TOEFL)
  • Certificates of Financial Support
