Pharm D. Deadlines
The Thomas J. Long School of Pharmacy and Health Sciences offers "Early Decision" (ED) status through PharmCAS. The Early Decision program is a binding option for applicants who have decided that Pacific's degree program is their first choice and they will enroll if accepted. As an Early Decision applicant to Pacific, you can apply to our pharmacy degree program. The Early Decision application deadline is September 8, 2015. In addition to completing the PharmCAS application, you must arrange for PharmCAS to receive all of your official transcripts and fee by September 8th. If your application, transcripts, or fee arrive after the deadline, PharmCAS will automatically change your file from early decision status to regular status. You must also complete your supplemental application by September 8. You may be offered early admission, denied admission, or deferred to regular applicant status. If you are offered admission as an Early Decision applicant, you are obligated to accept the offer and you will not be permitted to apply to other PharmCAS degree programs. If, however, you are denied admission as an Early Decision applicant, you may apply to other PharmCAS degree programs for an additional fee. Refer to the PharmCAS application fee schedule to determine the cost to apply to each additional program.
Please know that Early Decision status is not the same as being considered in Tier 1 review. If you would like to be considered for Tier 1, but do not wish to be considered as an Early Decision candidate, please DO NOT APPLY as an Early Decision Candidate. If your file is complete and meets the September 8st deadline, but you did not indicate early decision status on your PharmCAS application, you will be reviewed for Tier 1 regular admission.
Applications may be submitted beginning on July 15, and consideration of complete applications for interview slots will begin on August 1 and proceed on a somewhat rolling basis. Since interview slots are limited, it is to your advantage to apply as early as possible. In fact, analysis of previous applicant pools indicated that early applicants (Tier 1) have been interviewed and admitted in greater proportions than on-time applicants in (Tier 2, 3, or 4).
Applications received in Tier 1 (both Early Decision and Non-Early Decision candidates) will be reviewed prior to reviewing candidates in Tier 2. Applications received in Tier 2 will be reviewed prior to reviewing files in Tier 3, and applicants in Tier 3 will be reviewed prior to Tier 4.
You must designate on your PharmCAS application that you are applying as an Early Decision Candidate! If you do not, you will not be considered for early decision even if you meet the September 8 deadline date.
Early Decision Review - July 1 through September 8 (Early Decision candidates take priority over Tier 1 applicants during the review cycle.)
- Tier 1 - July 1 through September 8 (Tier 1 is for non-early decisions candidates who meet the September 8 deadline)
- Tier 2 - September 9 through October 1
- Tier 3 - October 2 through November 1
- Tier 4 - November 2 through December 1
Tier 1 Early Decision applicants will receive first consideration for interview slots, followed by Tier I Non-Early Decision applicants. Tier 2 applicants will receive the next consideration for interview slots. Tier 3 applicants will then receive consideration for interview slots. Tier 4 applicants will receive consideration for interview slots after the earlier tiers have been reviewed. Applications not completed by December 1st are LATE and will unlikely be reviewed.
Applications not completed by December 1st are LATE and typically are not reviewed.
All documents must be received by both PharmCAS and Pacific to be considered complete. In order to meet the deadline, PharmCAS must receive all documents by 9:00 p.m. Pacific time and all supplemental material must be postmarked by midnight on the deadline date.
Applications not complete when received at Pacific will be accepted if all items are received before the deadline date. All items to complete your application must be postmarked on or before December 1 and the Office of Admission will locate and match items to your application. However, we will not guarantee that these files will be processed as quickly as applications that were received with all required information. Also, if you file on the final deadline date and your application is missing a required item, you will not have an opportunity to submit the missing document(s). Your application will be late and will not be reviewed.
Applicants are reminded that transcripts and recommendations frequently take weeks, or even months to obtain. This is especially true of international coursework. Pacific regrets that we cannot extend the deadlines for the various tiers for students whose documents are delayed due to backlog or mishandling by the recommenders or schools. Applications completed after the deadline will not be reviewed. Please note the non-refundable $60.00 application fee is a processing fee and does not guarantee the review of your application if you miss the deadline.
