2012 Latino Heritage Month


Alumnus and author Matt de la Pena was the keynote speaker for Pacific's 2012 Latino Heritage MonthPacific's 2012 Latino Heritage Month Celebration included guest speakers, special film screenings, Latin dance lessons, a Nation of Islam Latino Conference, a Latino book display in the Library, and a ballet folklorico concert. The keynote speaker was Pacific alumnus Matt de la Peña, an award-winning author of books for young people and creative writing instructor at New York University. Prior to his campus visit, members of the campus community raised funds to purchase de la Peña's book "Mexican Whiteboy" that were distributed to local schools.
