Internships

Internships are a form of experiential learning and provides students with hands on experience in the workplace.  Internships can either be paid or unpaid and you sometimes can receive academic credit for the internship.

There are a number of ways to learn about internship opportunities:

  • The Career Resource Center staff can assist you in identifying potential opportunities and available internships are posted in Tiger Jobs.
  • Check with your instructors and departments for employer referrals.
  • Take advantage of all of your networking opportunities by making contacts through friends, family, current/former employers, classmates, alumni, and faculty members.
  • Learn about internship openings through newsletters, job fairs, work/study abroad programs, professional associations, student organizations, trade magazines, community service and volunteer groups.

You must be persistent in your search. Do not depend on someone to "find you an internship." If you look into all opportunities, your chances of obtaining a meaningful experience are much greater.
