Stacie Turks, Psy.D.

Director, Counseling Services

Dr. Turks received a Masters of Arts with Distinction in Counseling from Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University in Schaumburg, IL.

During her career at Pacific she has served as a Staff Psychologist, Associate Director of Clinical Services, and is now the Director of Counseling Services. In addition, Dr. Turks is an Assistant Professor in the Benerd School of Education, teaching Counseling Theories.

Dr. Turks provides individual therapy, faculty and staff consultations on both the Stockton and McGeorge School of Law campuses. In addition, she conducts outreach presentations, and supervises pre-doctoral psychology interns. Her professional interests include multicultural issues, mood disorders (depression and anxiety), and assertiveness training.

Her theoretical perspective is integrative; based on humanistic, systemic, and cognitive-behavioral approaches.

 

Charlene Patterson, Ph.D.

Dr. Patterson received her Masters in Social Work and Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Michigan.

Presently, she serves as Associate and Training Director of Counseling Services at Pacific.

Dr. Patterson’s professional interests include training and professional development, college student development, multicultural competency development, addressing diversity education and inclusion. She also serves as advisor for the Black Student Union (BSU) student organization. Clinical interests include depression and anxiety disorders, interpersonal relationships, grief and developmental issues.

Dr. Patterson's theoretical perspective is integrative and includes psychodynamic, family systems, interpersonal process, and cognitive-behavioral approaches within a humanistic framework. She enjoys working with individuals, couples and groups.

 

Liz Thompson, LMFT

Liz Thompson has spent 28 years dedicated to helping adolescents and young adults. She is an alumna of the University of the Pacific, received her BA in English and Theatre Arts, and her secondary teaching credential from the Benard School of Education. Before Liz began teaching, she and her husband were Resident Directors at Pacific, and Liz worked in Student Affairs at the Thomas J. Long, School of Pharmacy. Liz then received her Masters in Marriage Family Therapy from Western Seminary in Los Gatos, CA. She is licensed with the State of California's Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Marriage Family Therapist.
Liz has been a Staff Therapist at Pacific since 1996, she provides individual, couples and group therapy. Because of her love of teaching, she delivers workshops and presentations to staff, faculty and students on the campus at large; she consults with faculty & staff and is the Programming and Consultation Services Coordinator. Liz clinically supervises both pre-doctoral and MFT interns; she also supervises, mentors and trains interns in both the Programming and Consultation and Group Therapy Seminars.
Liz's areas of special interest or training include:
• Assessing and treating Eating Disorders and difficulties with body image.
• Dialectical Behavioral Therapy for regulating and managing emotions and mood.
• Family and relationship difficulties, as well as young adults coming from alcoholic and/or chaotic homes.
• Adjustment concerns, identity development, grief/loss, and integration of spiritual/faith background.
Liz is also certified in the administration and interpretation of the Meyers Briggs Temperament Indicator and has a love for young adult personality development. When time allows, she teaches courses at National University in the MFT program. She is also President/trainer/coach for Front Porch Consulting - which trains individuals in the skill and art of communicating effectively through presentations and workshops.


Kristina

Kristina Dulcey-Wang, Ph.D.

Dr. Dulcey-Wang received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University in San Diego, California. She completed her undergraduate work at the University of Nevada, Reno and has specialized training in substance abuse and addiction counseling. Prior to joining Counseling Services in 2007 Dr. Dulcey-Wang provided services in mental health settings including crisis call centers, group homes for foster-youth, inpatient psychiatric hospitals and both the public and private school sectors providing psychoeducational assessment and intervention.

As a Staff Psychologist at Pacific Dr. Dulcey-Wang provides individual, group, couples counseling and educational presentations to the Pacific community. Dr. Dulcey-Wang is invested in the training of future psychologists and serves as a primary supervisor for the pre-doctoral psychology interns and facilitates both the Therapy Modalities & Assessment Seminar and the Programming & Consultation Seminar. Her professional interests include multiculturally sensitive service delivery, developmental issues of young adults, attachment formation, psychological assessment of learning disabilities and the promotion of social justice. In her role as a psychologist Dr. Dulcey-Wang's goal is to provide an environment where students will feel understood, respected and heard. Her theoretical perspective is integrative, drawing from cognitive behavioral, attachment, and systemic frameworks.

In addition to serving as an adjunct professor in the Physical Therapy Department, Dr. Dulcey-Wang is the contact person for requesting Safe Zone Workshops across the Pacific Campus. The Safe Zone Program aims to increase awareness and sensitivity to the issues faced by the Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Questioning, and Intersex communities (LGBTQQIA). The goal of this program is to promote a climate of inclusion and value for diversity within Pacific's campus community and beyond.

 

Dale Brody

Dale Brody, MFT, Psy.D.

Dr. Brody received her Masters of Arts and Doctorate degrees in Clinical Psychology from The Professional School of Psychology in Sacramento, California. She is currently licensed with the State of California's Board of Behavioral Sciences as a Marriage Family Therapist.


Dr. Brody has provided psychological counseling services to law students at McGeorge School of Law since 2000. She began working with Pacific Counseling Services in Stockton in 2005 and presently serves as a Staff Psychologist on the McGeorge campus. She has served as Clinical Director for a local Community mental health outpatient clinic and Social Service/counseling agency in Sacramento. She also maintains a private practice in Sacramento providing psychotherapy to adult clientele.
Dr. Brody's clinical interests include depression and anxiety disorders, PTSD (Posttraumatic Stress Disorder), trauma response, grief and interpersonal /developmental growth issues. She is a certified practitioner in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and sports psychology / performance enhancement.


Dr. Brody's theoretical perspective is integrative; based on cognitive-behavioral and psychodynamic approaches incorporating a humanistic framework.



Kim

Kimberlee DeRushia, Psy.D.

Dr. DeRushia joined the Counseling Services staff in 2008 as a doctoral psychology intern. She received both her Master of Arts in Psychology (2006) and her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (2010) from Indiana University of Pennsylvania in Indiana, Pennsylvania. Dr. DeRushia's theoretical perspective is integrative utilizing a multicultural and developmentally appropriate focus within a humanistic approach. As a staff psychologist, Dr. DeRushia provides individual, group, and couples counseling on the Stockton campus. Dr. DeRushia is also the Counseling Services coordinator for both group therapy and social media.

Dr. DeRushia's clinical interests include group therapy, emotion regulation, development & identity issues within a multicultural framework, interpersonal growth and the interaction of social networking on mental wellness.


 

Pam Wrona, Psy.D.

Dr. Wrona received her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill, California. Her professional interests include Health Psychology and chronic pain, eating disorders, LGBTQ issues, mindfulness based stress reduction, and grief work.

 

Evan Byer, M.A.

Doctoral Psychology Intern

Evan received his M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Argosy-Chicago in 2009.  Before that, he received a B.A. in Psychology and Philosophy from DePaul University in 2006. His professional interests include client-centered theory and therapy, gelotology, the clinical use of dreams, developmental issues of college students, wilderness therapy, and supervision.  Evan is also passionate about teaching.  He has taught classes at the undergraduate level in Ethics, Community Psychology, and Interpersonal Communication.

His theoretical perspective stems from existential/humanistic modalities.  He is particularly interested in phenomenological and non-directive frameworks.

 

Brad McConnell

Brad received his Master of Arts degree from George Fox University (Newberg, OR) in 2009. His professional interests include quality of clinical training in graduate programs in psychology, awareness of multicultural identity, clinical supervision (and supervisory styles), mood disorders and identity formation in young adults.  While his clinical training has been grounded in cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), Brad's theoretical orientation has become more integrative in nature, especially utilizing interpersonal process as a complementary method to CBT.

 

Chris Sethness

Chris Sethness, M.A.
Doctoral Psychology Intern

Chris received his Master of Arts degree from the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. He has worked with adults, children, couples, and groups in a variety of clinical settings. His approach to therapy emphasizes listening and exploring what is meaningful and unique to each individual's life situation.  Chris believes that the priority of therapy is to come to know ourselves more thoroughly by understanding one's freedoms and limitations in life.  His interests and areas of experience include art and art therapy, creativity, existentialism and philosophy, bereavement, and group work.

Dr. Corey Brink

Dr. Brink is on the Pacific (Stockton) campus one day per week.  He provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management for students and professional consultation to staff.

 

Aly Strong

Office Coordinator

Aly joined Pacific in 2009 as the Office Coordinator for Counseling Services.  Aly is the first point of contact for students calling and coming into Counseling Services.  In addition to managing the therapist's daily schedules, she is also our project coordinator for projects such as: APA accreditation, annual intern selection, electronic file conversion and website upkeep.
