Leadership YOU

Our Purpose:

The purpose of Leadership YOU is to help students develop independent leadership identities and integrative leadership competencies that prepare them for a lifetime of personal and professional success.

About Leadership YOU:

Leadership YOU is a leadership program offered to students employed as Ambassadors, Student Advisors, and implmented across mulitple partnerships across campus. Students will develop an individual leadership identity as well as social, emotional, and intercultural competence. The program uses Leadership Identity Development theory (Komives et al., 2006) to guide the construct of leadership development.

Informed by Leadership Identity Development Theory:

Leadership Identity Development (LID) involves engaging with learning opportunities in one's environment over time to build one's capacity or efficacy to engage in leadership. LID provides the theoretical underpinning to Pacific's model of responsible leadership education in both curricular and co-curricular environments. This developmental apporach entails moving from simple to more complex dimensions of growth. The Komives et al. (2005) grounded theory study resulted in the identification of a six-stage developmental process of how students situate themselves in the construct of leadership over time.
