Beyond Our Gates

University of the Pacific takes an active role in working to improve and support our Northern California communities: Stockton, Sacramento and San Francisco.

Between January and May 2010, President Pamela Eibeck convened a series of six community forums aimed at identifying and assessing the community's needs and goals. The forums, called "Beyond Our Gates...Into the Community," covered topics crucial to our region: Healthcare; the Economy; Energy and the Environment; Education; Diversity; and Arts & Culture.

The University listened closely, and in response to what we heard, we have developed new and meaningful partnerships, such as The Tomorrow Project, in collaboration with agencies and organizations throughout the region. We continue to seek ways of strengthening our many ongoing community engagement projects, and are working to develop new strategies for improving quality of life in our region.

The success of this agenda depends on the passion of Pacific's faculty, staff and students, and on the willingness of the community to actively join the conversation. University of the Pacific listened — now we are ready to work together. We look forward to a future that all of us can celebrate.
