PrepUSA/Reach for the Stars Academy Teacher

Summer STEM Teaching Position

University of the Pacific's Tomorrow Project is accepting applications for teacher positions in the summer Prep-USA/Reach for the Stars Academy. This academy was developed through collaboration with Jose Hernandez Reaching for the Stars, Prep USA at the University of Texas San Antonio, MESA at the University of the Pacific, and the School of Engineering and Computer Science. The Academy will focus on mathematics and technology, college readiness, and the development of study skills.

Structure:
Grades - 6 - 9
Dates - June 9 - July 11, 2014 on the University of the Pacific campus
Training - Teachers must participate in professional development Initial availability - one week prior to the Academy's start date

Qualifications:
Education/Experience/Certification: 
Credentialed teachers in mathematics and/or science
Successful experience teaching young adolescents (6 - 12)  .It is not necessary to have taught grades 6-12 inclusively.

Skills/Knowledge/Expertise:
High school Math teacher must be familiar in Logic
Experience with and sensitive to underserved groups.
Ability to speak and understand Spanish is preferred but not required.
